The Alia area of Medina is famous for its many historical farms and orchards and its many palm trees, some of which are more than a hundred years old and still produce dates. This type of palm tree can still be found in the historic Al-Dabtah farm. Some of these orchards were owned by the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who used to enjoy its sweet water. Among the most famous of these orchards is an orchard owned by the noble Companion Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf (may Allah be pleased with him). This farm is adjacent to the historic Al-Dabtah farm, which is located in the heart of the Alia area of Medina and in the vicinity of the Quba Mosque, the first mosque established in Islam. There is also Bir al-Ahn, one of the wells of the Prophet and located in the homes of Bani Umayyah ibn Zayd of the Aws in the Alia area of Medina. It still exists and around it are the remains of old houses built of stones called Al-Usayrah, from which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution and named it Al-Yasirah. The historic Al-Dabtah farm is famous for its luxurious Ajwa palm trees in the Alia area and the Anbara and Safawi palm trees, which are among the finest types of dates in Medina.
